Co-founder Zoe had the very good fortune to trial the Phonak (I90) Infinio Sphere this month. Hence it being our hearing aid of the month in, yep, November. What a brilliant new release this is from Phonak. You can watch her review below. To really put it through its paces she wore it the AIHHP annual gathering, including the Golden Lobes, here she is with Co-fonder Gordon and his ear trumpet (wishing he was rocking the I90’s too!) Read on for a quick break down of her thoughts, pro’s and con’s:

Pro’s of the Phonak Infinio Sphere i90:

AMAZING background noise reduction. Zoe wore them to the Golden Lobes (anual gathering of audiologists – not misspelt Hollywood glitterati). Even though there was a live band she was able to clearly discern what the people on her table were saying.
Fantastic intuitive programme changes. The separate Ai chip and mega fast programming really coming into their own.
Super easy to connect and stable LE Bluetooth for streaming.
Lovely clear audio – as you’d expect.
Great app. Facilitates lots of options to design your own soundscape
Can be tweaked remotely.

Con’s of the Phonak Infinio Sphere i90:

It’s big. Actually, it’s really big. It needs to house the extra Ai chip!
The mega fast processing power is a battery muncher. Unless you ask your audiologist to toggle off the setting, speech in noise programme is limited to a few hours a day. This should be enough for most of us. Just worth knowing. If you need speech in noise for a lot of the day then you possible won’t get a full day’s wear on a single charge.

This would usually be Zoe’s idea of a nightmare. However, thanks to the amazing ‘Speech in noise’ setting of the Sphere. It was a breeze and much fun was had by all!

Wowzers, this is where the Phonak I90 Sphere REALLY showed it’s stripes. Group conversation with a loud band playing in the background. It aced it!

In conclusion:

The Phonak Infino Sphere I90 is a really fantastic (if a little large!) hearing aid. The Ai really comes into its own in the most challenging of listening environments. The size and price tag count against it but if you love a party and a good chat, you can’t go wrong with this super set of hearing aids!
